Frederick Corbett VC was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Corbett was born onSeptember 1853 in Maldon, Essex, and died there in 1912. His name at birth was David Embleton. He served in first the Kings Royal Rifle Corps and second, the Royal Artillery .
